Reorganization at the Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry (KILU) is planning a reorganization. As part of this reorganization, the Division of Biotechnology and the Division of Applied Microbiology will be relocating from the department. Instead, these activities will be integrated into the Department of Process and Life Science Engineering. With a shared vision to develop operations at Kemicentrum, this change aims to strengthen the coordination of research and education within these areas.

Timeline for the reorganization process:

February - March 2024

• 8 February: Information about the reorganization in connection with an information meeting for all employees at KILU.
• A risk and impact assessment will be conducted to evaluate the impact of the changes on the operations. Risk and impact assessment are carried out for the Division of Biotechnology and the Division of Applied Microbiology, as well as for the department as a whole.
• Information about the reorganization will be communicated to all employees at KILU via email (Head of department newsletter).

April 2024

• MBL negotiations (negotiations with the trade unions) are planned to take place at the end of April.

May 2024

• 2 May: Information meeting for all employees at KILU with ongoing updates on the reorganization process.
• 22 May (tentative): The Department of Chemistry board will make a direction decision regarding the reorganization.

June 2024

• The LTH board (Faculty of Engineering) will make a decision related to the reorganization.

Fall 2024

• The reorganization work will continue based on the measures identified through risk and impact assessments.

January 2025

• The reorganization is planned to be implemented starting from January 1, 2025.
