Nonlinear spectroscopy and Quantum interferometry. Towards nonlinear entangled-photon spectroscopy (Pre-defence of thesis in Chemical Physics)
Pre-defence of thesis, PhD student Albin Hedse.
Nonlinear spectroscopy is a powerful method for investigating complex, interconnected systems. It does still suffer from spectral congestion when the degree of complexity becomes too high, however. A proposed avenue of development for this type of spectroscopy involves the use of time-frequency entangled photons. More specifically, the strong spectral correlations between entangled photon pairs. This work investigates both nonlinear spectroscopy, its advantages and drawbacks, and takes some early steps toward an implementation of entangled-photon spectroscopy. The latter section is discussed in the form of an investigation of the upper bounds of entangled two-photon absorption, a topic which seemingly evades easy answers.
