Travel policy

We have a travel policy at the Department of chemistry to clarify the applicable regulations and, at the same time, contribute to a more uniform procedure across all our divisions regarding travel.

Travel is an integral part of academic activity and serves, among other things, to facilitate networking and increase the visibility of our activities nationally and internationally, as well as to carry out experiments and participate in evaluations and examinations. Many trips are initiated by individuals and involve a significant degree of discretion. For such travel, daily allowances should be used judiciously to ensure that research funds are used in the best possible way. The Swedish Tax Agency’s allowance limits vary considerably and are generally more generous for international than for domestic travel.

For international travel (excluding the Copenhagen region, for which no allowance is paid according to the Swedish Tax Agency), a reduced daily allowance should therefore normally be used to cover necessary additional expenses. This may be regulated either on the basis of trust or through a standard amount based on a reasonable proportion of the Swedish Tax Agency’s maximum allowance.
