Daniel Strand obtained a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at Chalmers Institute of Technology in Göteborg in 2001. He then completed his PhD (Tekn. Dr.) at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm working with Prof. Tobias Rein on asymmetric Wittig-type reactions in natural product synthesis.
After a brief stint as a process chemist at Astra Zeneca in 2007, Daniel took up a post-doctoral position in the group of Paul Wender at Stanford university. In 2009 Daniel joined the faculty at Lund University as an associate senior lecturer (bitr. universitetslektor). He was promoted to senior lecturer (universitetslektor) in organic chemistry in 2014 and became docent in 2015.
In 2021, Daniel was promoted to full professor of chemistry with specialization in organic synthesis and received the excellent teaching practitioner distinction at Lund University.
