Martin Trulsson, Associate Senior Lecturer at the Division of Theoretical Chemistry, Lund University will give a trial lecture for appointment as a Docent, "docentföreläsning", in theoretical chemistry.
Finding the densest packing of a set of objects is an ancient-old problem and has been fascinating humans for several millennia. In my talk I will give a brief overview of rich ways to pack, tile, and/or pile various “simple” objects and their relevance for science and our everyday life. So come and learn more about tessellations, aperiodic tilings, and random close packings.
